Motorsport enthusiast and Bristol Pegasus Motor Club member Ken Robson recently organised
a Charity event at the TeamSport Bristol circuit to raise money for a charity close to his own heart. In 2006 Ken was diagnosed with a very rare form of Monogenic Diabetes and sadly in 2008 their former club chairman collapsed and died of a heart attack whilst marshalling at a Club Spirit Event. Since that day their chosen charity has been the Wiltshire Air Ambulance, which is solely funded by a donation which as you can imagine is very expensive to run. The event, which initially began 7 years ago on behalf of the Bristol Pegasus Motor Club, put together a karting endurance event inviting all the motor clubs in and around Bristol. Past years, teams that have been involved are Bristol Motor Club, Bristol Kit Car Club, TVR Club, Westfield Sports Car Club, Marlin Sports Car Club, Bristol University Students Motor Club and Team GTM. The format is 25 minutes qualifying followed by two and a half hours racing where each driver must drive a minimum of 2 stints. With up to 16 teams on the track and with many male driving ego's there is usually a huge amount of competition between the teams. A name worth noting is James Hobbs who won the National Red Bull Karting Challenge in 2006. Organiser Ken Robson, who did a fantastic job in organising the event said
None of this would have been possible without the support of The Raceway and now TeamSport, for which we can not thank them enough to help make a real difference to peoples lives who are less fortunate their ourselves
